System Reliability Study and Component Performance Updates

This is the fifth year for the EPIX and SPAR-based system studies and the sixth year for the EPIX-based component performance studies

The component performance studies for 2011 use the 2010 Industry Average Performance results to compare the trends to and as the prior for Bayesian updates in the trends. The system studies for 2011 use the updated component performance data for trend and engineering evaluations. In addition, the system studies have been updated from the SPAR model version 3.xx to SPAR model version 8.xx. The results in this annual update reflect the results of the enhanced component performance for emergency diesel generators, turbine-driven pumps, motor-driven pumps, motor-operated, and air- operated valves.

The motor-operated valve component performance study is enhanced, meaning that the underlying data have been fully reviewed and that there are additional analyses in the document including: causes, subcomponents, method of detection, and recovery. This completes the enhancements of the component performance studies.

Loss of Offsite Power (LOOP) Update

The 2010 and 2011 LOOP updates now show the current estimate of dual-unit LOOP probability.
